Parabens are a form of preservative that is used in the cosmetic and beauty industry. Products such as soaps, creams, shampoo and deodorant frequently contain parabens. Chemically speaking, parabens is an ester—a compound molecule formed from a combination of acid and alcohol. Paraben occurs in products in various forms of esters. After a study done in the Journal of Applied Toxicology showed the presence of parabens in some breast tissue tumors, doubts were raised about the paraben safety. While the FDA made an official announcement that the study “did not show a cause-effect relationship between parabens and breast cancer”, the scientific community still doubt the side effects of parabens.

Peptides are fragments of proteins that are made up of amino acids. When amino acids are combined in specific form they create peptides (and there are hundreds of peptides), and when peptides are formed in a certain way, they produce proteins. Proteins are one of the basic building blocks of our skin. Our skin without will not remain intact and some of the results are loss of firmness, the appearance of wrinkles, texture changes, and skin is not as elastic as it used to be.
